A new cohomology class in the moduli space of stable curves

Abstract

We will define a cohomology class in the moduli space of stable curves with many beautiful properties analogous to properties of intersection numbers on the moduli space proven in the Witten-Kontsevich theorem. Applications of this new cohomology class to various enumerative problems will be given.
