Operads, Lie algebras, and deformations.
Friday 3rd September, 12-1pm, Carslaw 375.
I shall explain what an operad is, and give some examples.
Then I shall outline how the deformations of an algebraic
structure can be described by a differential graded algebra,
and how operads have been used recently by Beilinson-Ginzburg
and Kontsevich to make the description more explicit and useful
in some particular applications.
