    Modelling an Ultrasonic Nebuliser

    Friday 10th September, 12-1pm, Carslaw 173.

A nebuliser is a device which atomises medicines for direct inhalation into the lungs. The 1998 Maths-in-Industry Study Group studied the problem of improving performance of a medicinal nebuliser which is driven by an ultrasonically generated jet which flows up through a central chamber. This device is much smaller than a conventional nebuliser and has great potential to improve the quality of drug delivery. The device, its advantages and disadvantages will be described. The suggestions of the MISG and some subsequent research will be described.
