Web CT Student Access

Lecturers that use the University Web CT (or equivalent) to distribute notes and online content should create a 'guest' account for remote students. Alternatively, it may be practical to set up a website outside of the WebCT (like UniSA have done) to avoid the difficulties of remote student enrollment. The important thing is for both local and remote students to have equal access to online information.

Sydney University

1. Go to www.helpdesk.usyd.edu.au
2. Click on "Electronic Forms" in the right hand column
3. Click "new Unikey Account" on the left hand quick links
4. Log into your USyd unikey account if needed.
5. Fill out the form with student details.
6. In the section "What is their relationship to the University?" select "Honorary"
7. In the "why does this account need to be created" enter "Honours student visiting from another University requires access to courses notes" or something similar.

Once the account is created it will need to be linked to blackboard for the right subject. This *should* only require a phone call to ICT to link the account to the blackboard/web CT for the course.

Wollongong University

1. Go to http://www.uow.edu.au/its/useraccountapplication/index.html . You don't have to be staff to log onto this page.
2. Print off the form and complete the first page. Sign the relevant section and return to the UOW course coordinator

3. Course coordinator completes rest of paperwork and gets signed approval from Head of School or Director. In type of account section we choose "associate"

4. Course coordinator takes signed Sponsored User forms to UOW ITS (in hardcopy)
. ITS creates new user accounts for the sponsored users. Notifies Course coordinator who then collects new user names and passwords from ITS (in hardcopy)
5. Course coordinator then submits a request to the Elearning group via the Elearning help page on the staff intranet home page (can't provide a link for this given it is on the UOW intranet) to have the new users access to the relevant subjects Elearning space.
Elearning adds new sponsored "affiliated" students to relevant subjects Elearning pages. Notifies Course coordinator that access has been granted.
6. Course Coordinator then emails "new" students advising them of the process to access the subjects Elearning space and provides them with their new UOW usernames and passwords.


University of South Australia

Course materials are uploaded to a public website for all students.
